SS16 Trend Forecast

Posted on Friday, October 09, 2015

It’s that time of year again when all eyes turn to the fashion capitals of the world as they give us a tantalising glimpse at the emerging Spring/Summer style trends . So far New York, London and Milan fashion weeks have unveiled a range of fresh new looks for the coming season- and they did not disappoint! Below we’ve put together a style file compiling all our favourite trends spotted on the catwalk and city streets:

Diverse denim

Unsurprisingly everyone’s favourite fabric is sticking around next season but with a slight twist on tradition. It’s time to swap your trusty skin-tight jeans for some heavy duty denim pieces with DIY appeal. We’re talking everything from patched, frayed, torn and striped- seriously anything goes! Key pieces include turn-ups, high-rise slacks, dungarees, oversized shirts and jackets.

Clean utility

Military inspired fashion has never strayed too far from the catwalk but is expected to hit next season with force in the form of clean utility styling. Trucker and parka jackets are at the forefront of this Spring/Summer trend, with functional detailing appearing in the shape of cargo pockets, bungee cords and wind flaps. The fundamental message for this look is to keep styling simple, silhouettes regimented and colours khaki.

Eclectic bohemia

Youthful, nomadic and perfect for summer- next season’s eclectic bohemia is due to provide us with a novel take on this year’s 1970s trend with the emergence of bold prints, patchwork fabric and lightweight textures. Key items include flowing maxi dresses and loose fitting kaftans with boho detailing such as crocheting, fringe work and indigenous embellishment.

Tie and dye

With 90’s styling set to transpire next season, expect to see a revival of tie dye worked apparel in a variety of washes and colours. Think tonal ombre, crumpled linen and contrasting hemline hues for a playful, edgy look across all your favourite Spring/Summer staples.
